Help with Globalsat Bu-353s4

Note : i only understand English language, appreciate you Bearing with me

Hi everyone,
I want help regarding my Globalsat Bu-353s4 with GNSS commander as this app doesn't seem to operate, am i doing something wrong

Setup
TV Box : Minix Neo U9-H
Gps : GlobalSat Bu-353S4
GNSS data source :Usb
Input Port for Gps : OTG port (as recommended by minix)
Advanced Setting : Prolific, Buad = 38400
GPS usb gadget fixed at same buad = 38400 using PC

Gnss showing all "-" after this settings
Any help?

Same settings work with Gpsinfo app on play Store by Globasat

I'm just unable to figure out any problems with my settings as well other apps seems to work well, is GNSS commander needs some fix regarding Pl2303 drivers or what?

All help is highly appreciated and awaited

Hi immi,

are you sure that the USB vendor for the BU-353-S4 device is Prolific?
In the datasheet the chipset is specified as: SiRF STAR IV.
So i'm not really sure if "Prolific" is the correct vendor to use in GNSS-Commander app.

Please do me a favour:
Go to the app settings – bugfixing and switch on „log to trace file“. (switch off LibUSB logging)
Now select „USB device“ as input with additional settings: vendor = „generic“. (do not set 'prolific')

Ok – no go back to the app main page and plug in your external device.
Unplug … wait a few seconds … plug in again and wait again a few seconds.

Open again the settings – bugfixing page and tap on „send log file by email“.
Send the logfile to gnss@pilablu.de.
In the logfile you can see the USB vendor ID of the external device.

Thanks for prompt response

I'll check it with generic, yes you're right , chip is sirf star iv, but every forum people using Pl2303 for it, I'm bit confused here

Sure I'll try to send log file soon

Moreover in app help section, it's mentioned that usb device can be used as internal with commands provided, i didn't find commands anywhere, does making it internal will help better results or it's equally good with USB status?
Any benefits of making it internal? If yes than please guide me to commands

Secondly to confirm vendor, we can extract apk by globalsat named Gpsinfo(i guess), this app inspection can further tell us about vendor as this app is particularly for BU-353-S4 globalsat

Sorry - but there is nothing like using an external device as internal!
See following official app and it say P2303...
Yep - they support the BU-353-S4 device!
But this doesn't mean that the vendor has to be "prolific".
It depends on the vendor which "magic keys" must be send on initialization in order to receive data.
Please send the requested log, otherwise i don't have any chance to help you.

This post is to acknowledge any members coming to search for issue with Pl2303hx drivers, this issue is going to be resolved in next update of apk from play Store, please note date of this post as next update after today's date will be issue-less regarding BU-353-S4 (pl2303hx prolific Driver) , further the Great Dev has told me that he's going to do something with initialization process

Note : this post is to help and inform anyone curious to know in future
